Who writes this site
Alex Monroe — Editor. Alex is the editor and primary reviewer at Product Scavenger. He researches, tests, and writes about smart-home gear with a focus on separating the products that genuinely improve daily life from the ones that just add another app to your phone. Alex has been building out connected-home setups in his own apartment and family members’ homes since 2018 — everything from mesh Wi-Fi and HomeKit integrations to robot vacuums that try (and sometimes fail) to navigate around a shedding dog.

How we research & test
We rely on a mix of hands-on use (when we own or can borrow a product), long-form owner reviews across multiple retailers and communities, manufacturer documentation, and spec-sheet comparisons. When we haven’t personally tested a product, we say so explicitly in the review — we don’t fake first-hand experience.
